Harbord Public School and P&C Sustainability Team were absolutely delighted to have been successful with our application for a 2021 Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant, just before lock down.
Our Worms at Work project aims to expand insufficient organic waste management systems and provide sufficient capacity in compost bins and worm farms to allow HPS to keep 100% of our organic, compostable waste out of landfill.
The grants are being funded with a 10c contribution from each sale of the Woolworths Bag for Good at full price, which was launched in 2018 when Woolworths went single-use plastic bag free.
The children and teachers are so looking forward to continuing their work and learning from this project. Our Bee Hive and Worm Farm will be a huge asset to the children’s education and we’ll keep you updated on the results.
A big thank you to Woolworths Junior Landcare Program for the grant and the wonderful opportunity you’re giving students around Australia to make a change for good.
If any other students or parents of Harbord School are interested in helping with this project or any of our other sustainability initiatives, we could always use more hands! Please don't hesitate to get in touch with the P&C at firstname.lastname@example.org
